ALBANY — Assemblywoman Jane Corwin released a statement following a vote today on a bill strengthening laws against human trafficking.

The statement, which follows in its entirety, also renews a call for the Assembly to bring up the entire slate of women's protection issues for a vote.
Today’s I was proud to vote for legislation that strengthens human trafficking laws in our state, one of the Women’s Equality Act provisions that I have long called for individual votes on. I would particularly like to congratulate Assemblywoman Amy Paulin on her efforts to bring about individual votes on the 10-point Women’s Equality Act, which I hope has started with this bill being allowed to come for a vote today. It is vital that we continue to work together, across party lines, to ensure these meaningful bills are allowed to come up for a long-denied individual vote in the state Assembly. I encourage Speaker Heastie to bring the remaining provisions up for a vote quickly so that we can strengthen legal protections for all women and children across the state.
