ENP STAFF REPORTS

TOWN OF LOCKPORT — A 29-year-old Amherst man was charged with unlicensed driving and marijuana possession Wednesday afternoon after Niagara County Sheriff's deputies pulled him over for a broken tail light.
According to the NCSO report, Salvatore J. Scime, 249 Ferndale Road, Amherst, was stopped on South Transit Road for following another vehicle too closely and having a tail light that wasn't illuminating. When patrol spoke with him, they found him to be driving with a suspended driver's license. They further found him to be in possession of a "bowl," and some marijuana.
"Scime stated that marijuana was almost legal and asked patrol, 'why don't they just hurry up and make it legal,' " according to the police report.
Scime was charged and given a court date in the Town of Lockport Court on Thursday. The "bowl" and plastic container with suspected marijuana inside was submitted to the Niagara County Forensics Laboratory for evidence and analysis.
