WRIGHTS CORNERS — Wrights Corners volunteer firefighters had a class Saturday to learn to use their brand new Scott X3 4.5 air packs.

The air packs replace 24 state-of-the-art packs the fire company had received in the year 2000 and make the department compliant with the NFPA-1981 for air packs.

The new packs have a reduced weight and 30 minutes of air with a 4,500 psi rating — a 50 percent improvement of the previous packs. They also have a new advance early air warning system to give the firefighter more time to get out when they run low on air, a special connector to assist a trapped firefighter and also heads up display.

Mark Rabent from DIVAL worked with Wrights Corners to put these 26 new units in service.

Wrights Corners Volunteers thanked the community they service for their donations and support of the fire company and wanted them to know their money is used to provide members the best in lifesaving equipment.
