ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
SOMERSET — A 48-year-old Townline Road man was charged with criminal possession of marijuana after Niagara County Sheriff's deputies seized two bags of pot from his home.
According to the NCSO report, patrol was called to the home of Michael D. LaJoie, 7857 Townline Road, around 6:15 p.m. Thursday for an unrelated matter when they learned that just prior to their arrival, he had taken a large bag from the home from the residence.
Patrol was told that the bag possibly contained long guns but LaJoie denied having any guns at the residence. A search for the bag found a large plastic bag behind the home containing marijuana, although LaJoie denied ownership of it. After NCSO secured a search warrant on the home, they found another bag containing pot, the report states.
LaJoie told patrol, "You guys act like this is some big bust. There is only a few ounces in that bag."
LaJoie was transported back to NCSO where the marihuana was deemed to be more than 16 ounces in weight. He was placed into custody and taken to Hartland Court for arraignment. He was then remanded to the Niagara County jail on $1000 bail and is due in Town of Somerset Court on Thursday.
