LEWISTON — A 32-year-old Town of Lockport man with the misfortune of having the same name as a man Amherst Police are looking for found himself facing charges for aggravated unlicensed operation or a motor vehicle.
According to the NCSO report, patrol was traveling eastbound on Ridge Road around 1:36 a.m. Saturday when they checked the status of the vehicle in front of them. Dispatch notified patrol that the registered owner of the vehicle had a warrant out of Amherst.
When patrol stopped the vehicle in the parking lot of Smokin' Joes on Indian Hill, they found that the Amherst warrant was meant for a different Michael J. Shea.
Nonetheless, they found that the Michael J. Shea they pulled over, of 5037 Carriage Lane, was driving with a suspended license. He was subsequently charged with third-degree AUO and jailed on $100 bail. He was issued a uniform traffic ticket and is set to appear in Lewiston Town Court on March 3.
