BUFFALO – Canisius College will host the 8th Annual WNY Brain Bee on Feb. 21 in the college’s Science Hall.

During the competition, local high school students will be tested on their knowledge of brain anatomy and function. The event is free and open to the public.

The event kicks off with a Scientific and Medical Career Panel Discussion at 10 a.m. Gregory Castiglia, MD, Buffalo Neurosurgery Group, graduate students from the Neuroscience Program at the State University of New York at Buffalo (UB), medical students from UB, and undergraduate students from Canisius College will be among the panelists. Participants and their parents can ask the panelists questions, including about their experiences as they pursue careers in medicine or science.

The Brain Bee competition will begin at 10:30 a.m. The winner will receive a travel stipend to attend the National Brain Bee in Baltimore, MD. First, second, and third place winners will receive cash prizes totaling $350.
