ENP STAFF REPORTS

The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory from 7 p.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday.

According to the weather service, the wind chill will be in the -15 to -20 degree range, temperatures that may result in frostbite and hypothermia for anyone not dressed for the cold.

A wind chill advisory is issued "when strong wind will combine with cold temperatures to create dangerously cold conditions for exposed skin," the weather service explains. "The wind will make it feel like it is 15 degrees below zero of colder for several hours."

The National Weather Service warns: "If you will be outdoors, use common sense and dress warmly, making sure that all exposed skin is covered. If possible, avoid prolonged exposure to the cold to prevent frostbite and hypothermia."

Watch for more closings Tuesday as most East Niagara Schools will not open with wind chills in that range due to the potential hazards to children.
