ENP STAFF REPORTS

The Niagara Wine Trail has released its 2015 calendar of events and made available online ticket sales for its February, April, and June events. The July Wine Festival and Fall/Winter event tickets will go on sale in the coming months.
The very popular April "Taste of the Trail" wine and food pairing event is back again for 2015. The event was changed to be two weekends last year, with half of the wineries participating each weekend.
"We changed the way we did this event last year and it was extremely successful for us" said Coordinator Elizabeth Maute. "We base a lot of what we do with our events on feedback from our customers. They said they loved wine and food pairing, and they liked the two-weekend option. We want to give them what they want."
Taste of the Trail features half of the member wineries the first weekend, and the other wineries during the second weekend. Attendees can purchase tickets for just one of the weekends for $20 in advance, or both weekends at a discounted rate of $35 in advance, plus tax.
The wine trail has also added two new members in Oreans County, bringing the total number of wineries on the trail to 22 — including four in Orleans County.
"It's wonderful to see the expansion of the trail heading west," says Maute, "we expanded the trail into Monroe County not long ago with the hopes that this would encourage more businesses to join and work with us. It has. Being along the wine trail is a huge benefit to local businesses."
Besides growing the total to 22, the new members bring more diversity to the wine trail. In Medina, newly opened member 810 Meadworks, offers visitors a selection of meads (honey wine). In Albion, Salamaca Estate Winery features a selection of traditional wines ranging from dry viniferas to sweet native varieties. More details and contact information for 810 Meadworks and Salamaca Estate Winery may be found on the wine trail's website under the wineries tab.
More information and the complete 2015 schedule may be found on the Niagara Wine Trail's website: http://niagarawinetrail.org/category/events.
