Raymond E. Lamont passed away January 21, 2015 in Niagara Hospice House.

Born in Lockport on September 9, 1917 he was the son of Earl and Doris (Quandt) Lamont. Ray served in the US Navy from 1944 to 1946.  He owned and operated his own plumbing business, RE Lamont Plumbing and Heating, retiring in 1982.  He enjoyed music, bowling, being inducted into the Lockport Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1998.  He initiated and spearheaded efforts to have the Lockport Bypass named in honor of astronaut and Lockport native, William Gregory. It was officially dedicated The William Gregory Bypass in 1998. Ray was predeceased by his wife Marion (Williams) Lamont on June 23, 1979.

Ray is survived by his two children Paul (Tina) Lamont of Lockport and Nancy Brandt of Florida; two grandchildren, Alex (Jennifer) Lamont and Lindsay (Kevin) Collins; brother of Florence Judd of Lockport, and late Margaret Frombgen, Helen Shaffer, Marion Gaylord, Fred, Elmer, Charles and Robert Lamont; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Monday, January 26th from 3-7 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport where funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 27th at 10 AM.  Entombment will be in Glenwood Mausoleum.  Memorial donations to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094 would be appreciated.
