ENP STAFF REPORTS

ROYALTON — A 24-year-old Lockport man and a 26-year-old Dansville woman were charged with drug possession early this morning for having codeine pills.
The pair, stopped by Niagara County Sheriff’s deputies for driving with a hanging license plate and an obstructed view, were found to have a clear plastic wrapper containing five white, round tablets in it. Patrol determined the pilled to be acetaminophen-codeine tablets.
While Steven J. Wright, 33 Corinthia St., and Jessica N. Wyant, 32 Battle St., Dansville, both denied ownership of the pills, they were each charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Wyant was also charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
The vehicle was towed and the pair were both taken to Niagara County Jail and held on $500 bail. Both are due in Town of Royalton Court on Jan. 20.
