TOWN OF LOCKPORT — A Clifton Park man was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and traffic offenses following a one-vehicle accident on Friday.

According to the New York State Police, Paul B. Johnson, 24, was traveling southbound on Lockport Junction Road "at an unsafe speed for snowy conditions" when he lost control of the vehicle and exited the roadway off the east shoulder of the road, striking a Ridge Road Express sign, causing damage to the vehicle and the sign.

When Troopers arrived, they detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Approximately 3 grams of marijuana and a smoking device containing marijuana residue was found. Johnson was also found to have a suspended license.

In addition to the possession charge, Johnson was also charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and speeding. He was arraigned in Town of Lockport Court and remanded to Niagara County Jail in lieu of $250 cash/$500 bond.
