TOWN OF NIAGARA — A Niagara County man was shot at approximately 11:35 p.m. in Expressway Village Trailer Park.
New York State Police, Niagara County Sheriff's deputies, Town of Niagara Police and Town of Lewiston Police all responded to the scene after a Niagara County 911 dispatch requesting patrols respond to a report of a subject with a gunshot wound.
Upon arrival, Troopers located Douglas K. Walck, a 43-year-old male outside his trailer with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. Walck advised police that he had a physical altercation with Thomas M. Lasher, a 49-year-old Town of Niagara resident, inside his trailer.
After the altercation Walck stated he went outside to see if Lasher had left. Upon exiting the trailer Walck, was shot in the abdomen by Lasher, according to state police. Before leaving the area, Lasher fired two additional rounds at the trailer.
Walck was transported to ECMC where he underwent surgery and is currently listed in stable condition.
Multiple agencies responded to Lasher's address on Miller Road in the Town of Niagara, where he was located and taken into custody without incident. Police also were able to secure a 20-gauge shotgun from that residence.
Lasher was processed at SP Niagara and transported to Mount St. Mary’s Hospital for injuries sustained in the altercation with Mr. Walck prior to his arrest.
Town of Niagara Justice James J. Faso arraigned Mr. Lasher on the charges of Attempted Murder 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree.
Lasher was transferred from St Mary's Hospital to the secure wing at ECMC for further medical evaluation and will be held without bail upon release, police say.
