TOWN OF LOCKPORT — The Niagara County Sheriff's Office will hold a Community Police Academy beginning Feb. 26 at the Niagara County Public Safety Building, 5574 Niagara St. Ext.
The program will be held every Thursday through May 28 at no cost to participants. Instruction starts at 6 p.m. and generally lasts three to four hours.
The goal of the Sheriff’s Community Police Academy is to provide county residents with a working knowledge and background of the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office. Topics, such as firearms training simulator, reality based training and emergency vehicle operator course are just a short list of the many facets of the program. The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office is committed to the community it serves and is determined to continue to be at the forefront of community relations for the citizens and businesses of Niagara County.
Applicants must be at least 20 years of age, reside or work within Niagara County and have no prior felony convictions or outstanding warrants. Due to a limit in class size, it is possible that not all applicants will be accepted.
Anyone with questions or who needs an application by mail is asked to contact Captain Michael Dunn at 438-3331 or Deputy Pat Williams at 523-0098. Otherwise, applications can be obtained at www.niagarasheriff.com.
Those who are accepted will be notified by mail.
