Anthony Merante of Niagara Falls was named the NA3EHL Offensive Star of the Week, the league announced today.
The league chose Merante due to his work in leading the Lockport Express team to victory in two wins over the Syracuse Stampede this past weekend, the team's first game action since before Christmas.
Merante scored the first goal of the game on Saturday of an eventual 5-4 win over the Stampede. Then on Sunday, he had a goal and an assist in a 4-2 win.
Merante currently leads the Express in goals at 21, and points at 43 in 24 games played this season. He is second in the league in scoring.
This is his second Offensive Star of the Week honor for the 2014-15 season. Aidan Critchlow of the East Coast Minutemen was named the Defensive Star of the Week.
