ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
The case against a pair of Lockport men accused of vandalizing a memorial bench will continue in two weeks.
City Court Judge Bill Watson gave the defendants separate court dates moving forward. The case against 21-year-old Garrett Sheehan will hold a pre-trial conference on Jan. 28, while 20-year-old Spencer Lupo is scheduled for a pre-trial conference on Feb. 4.
The pair, who were in court today, each stand charged with second-degree criminal mischief — a class D felony — for damaging the Albert Jex Memorial Bench located at Locust and Walnut streets, as well as second-degree criminal mischief for a separate incident that occurred in the early morning hours of Aug. 9.
The bench had to be re-created at a cost of about $2,100. It was also relocated to Children's Memorial Park on South Transit Street.
NOTE: Story and headline edited at 6:56 p.m. to state that the defendants were given separate court dates. The original story incorrectly stated they would both appear in February.
