ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
Lockport police arrested a 22-year-old Depew man Sunday night, charging him with petit larceny and identity theft for fraudulently signing a Vine Street woman up for an energy plan she had not agreed to.
According to the LPD arrest report, Adam J. Youngman, 22, 33 Lemans Dr., Depew, had stolen the woman’s NYSEG bill, which would give him all the information needed to get her an account with the other energy company.
The woman, who said Youngman is an acquaintance of hers, spoke with a supervisor at the company he worked for, who told her after listening to the confirmation call required to switch to the energy company “it was clear ... that it was Adam throwing his voice, to sound like a woman.”
LPD contacted Youngman Sunday evening and he turned himself in at the station. He was due in City Court Monday morning.
