TOWN OF LOCKPORT — Niagara County Sheriff's deputies happened across a stolen vehicle around 6:28 p.m. Thursday, disabled in the 4800 block of Saunders Settlement Road.
Patrol located a dark in color Ford van bearing on the south shoulder of the roadway and found that the vehicle is registered to a Cottage Street man who had reported the vehicle stolen from the City of Buffalo on Dec. 22. Patrol checked the vehicle, and observed the vehicle to be unoccupied, with the passenger side front window broken.
Deputies attempted to contact the vehicle's owner by telephone, and by having the City of Lockport Police check his, both with negative results. Niagara County Dispatch contacted Buffalo Police, who confirmed that the vehicle was reported stolen. Buffalo Police advised Niagara County Dispatch that they were not going to respond to process the vehicle.
Unable to locate the owne at the time, the vehicle was photographed and towed.
