John J. Ginty of Medina passed away peacefully on Friday morning at the Odd Fellows & Rebekah Rehab and HCC, husband of the late Elizabeth “Betty” Donaldson Ginty. John was born on June 7, 1919 in Newfane, NY to Joseph and Grace Winkleman Ginty. He was the chief family court clerk for Niagara County and also served several years with the Niagara County Sheriffs Dept. as a road patrol deputy. John served in the army from 1941 to 1945 obtaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He attended and was members of St.Bridgets Roman Catholic Church, he enjoyed woodworking and making birdhouses also tending to his lawn and garden. He was known of puttering around and always doing something.

Surviving are sons, Robert (Katherine) Ginty of Lockport and John (Nancy) Ginty of Newfane, a daughter Joanne Ginty of Olcott, grandchildren Ian, Patrick and Devin Ginty a great grandson Connor Ginty and several nieces. Also surviving is longtime companion Betty Austin.

John is predeceased by 2 brothers Franklin and Norman Ginty also a sister Helen Capen and a grandchild Corey Ginty.

Friends are invited to attend a mass of Christian burial on MONDAY January 19 at 11:30 AM in St. Brendan on the Lake Newfane site (St.Bridgets) 3455 Ewings Rd. Newfane, NY 14108. Burial will be in St. Charles cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
