After a five-goal performance by the Lockport Express Saturday night against the Jersey Shore Wildcats, the team could only muster one goal this morning, falling 4-1.

Facing 57 shots from the Express, Jersey Shore goaltender Marc Schlaeger stopped 56 of them. Lockport's Tyler Shotwell, meanwhile, stopped 63 of 67 shots he faced in the loss.

Jersey Shore owned the scoreboard in the first and third periods, getting goals from Jiri Hajda and Ilya Spektor and 3:18 and 16:40 respectively in the first and Kevin Gruber and Adam Skutchan at 15:51 and 18:52 respectively in the third. Justin Apgar, William Villeneuve and Alexandre Racicot each earned one assist.

Lockport's lone goal came from Justin Blake at 12:31 of the second period. He was assisted by Anthony Merante and Jordan Pocobello.

It was a fairly physical game with Lockport receiving 43 minutes worth of penalties on 11 infractions and Jersey Shore getting 39 minutes of penalties assessed on 9 infractions. Lockport went 0-6 on the power play, while Jersey Shore was 1-8.

With the loss, the Express now has a record of 21-8-1, while the Wildcats improve to 35-1.

The Express returns home next weekend to play Roc City at 7 p.m. Saturday and Syracuse at 1 p.m. Sunday.
