ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
The award promotes excellence in the management and administration of public works projects by recognizing the partnership between the managing agency and participating consultants and contractors.
Donald Nims, Senior Project Manager at Bergmann Associates said, "The project team here at Bergmann is thrilled to be recognized by the American Public Works Association for the Restoration of the Flight of Five. We are proud of the work we put into this project and, honestly, we are just happy to be a part of it and the history of Lockport.”
The Flight of Five Historic Restoration project in 2014, also known as Phase I of the Restoration of the Flight of Five, fully restored two of the five historic locks that make up the Flight of Five. The Flight of Five was an engineering marvel built in the 1800s that allowed the Erie Canal to traverse up and down the Niagara Escarpment in downtown Lockport.
The Restoration of the Flight of Five was named a “Regional Priority Project” by the WNY Regional Economic Development Council in 2014.
Canalside and the East Canal project in the City of Buffalo were also designated as projects of the year by the group.
