BUFFALO — The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team has recalled forward Mikhail Grigorenko from the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Grigorenko (5/16/94, 6'3", 211 lbs) joins the Sabres for the third time this season, playing in four games and recording an assist in the team’s game against Detroit on Tuesday. With the Amerks, Grigorenko has appeared in 30 games in 2014-15 and has tallied the team’s third-highest point total with 22 points (7+15). In 47 NHL games played with the Sabres through parts of two seasons, he has registered nine points (3+6).

Drafted by the Sabres in the first round (12th overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft, Grigorenko signed an entry-level contract with the club in July 2012. The Khabarovsk, Russia native has also played parts of three seasons (2011-12 – 2013-14) for the Quebec Remparts of the QMJHL.

Grigorenko was one of four Sabres the team assigned to Rochester on Wednesday. The others were Joel Armia, Tim Schaller, and defenseman Mark Pysyk.

The Sabres play the New York Islanders at 7 p.m. at First Niagara Center.
