ENP STAFF REPORTS

NEWFANE — The driving while intoxicated case against Lockport Police Lt. Adam Piedmont has been moved to Wheatfield Town Court.
The trial was to start today in Newfane Town Court but was moved to Wheatfield instead as both Newfane Town Justices — Bruce M. Barnes and Scott R. Boudeman — had recused themselves from the case, according to Piedmont's attorney, George Muscato.
Piedmont, who was charged Oct. 5 with DWI after allegedly striking a parked car in front of 2769 S. Main St., remains on paid administrative leave from the Lockport Police Department through the conclusion of the case. He pleaded not guilty to the DWI on Oct. 7.
There is no date yet for the start of proceedings in Wheatfield, Muscato said.
