TOWN OF LOCKPORT — A dangerous stretch of Robinson Road is getting a little safer as workers from the New York State Department of Transportation installed a pedestrian bridge today.

The new 50-foot-bridge crosses Donner Creek on the south side of the road across from Snyder Drive.

The bridge, in conjunction with a new sidewalk, will allow pedestrians to safely traverse Robinson Road without having to walk in the roadway. There have been a number of accidents involving pedestrians getting hit along Robinson Road between Transit Road and Beattie Ave.

The 50-foot bridge will allow pedestrians to walk along Dysinger Road without having to walk on the roadway itself. (HEATHER N. GRIMMER / ENP PHOTOGRAPHER)
