TOWN OF LOCKPORT — A resident of the Village was charged Wednesday night with possession of marijuana following a South Transit Road traffic stop.

According to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office report, Melanie M. Forster, 26, 6035 South Transit Road, lot 210, was stopped for speeding. While she was being interviewed, patrol could smell marijuana, which Forster admitted to having when asked.

"Patrol retrieved a sandwich bag of a green vegetable matter from the compartment," the report states. "Forster stated that it was marijuana (and) was taken into custody for unlawful possession of marijuana."

She was released on an appearance ticket for the Town of Lockport Court on Dec. 18. The alleged marijuana was secured and turned in to the NCSO lab for ID.
