ALBANY — The City of Lockport will receive $380,000 in community development block grant funds from the state, according to an announcement this afternoon from Gov. Andrew Cuomo's office.
In all, the state is doling out $13.6 million for 44 different projects to assist businesses, create approximately 270 jobs, create and preserve 170 affordable housing units
The funding was made available through the federally-funded Community Development Block Grant Program, which is administered by New York State Homes and Community Renewal.
“This funding will create jobs, improve housing and enhance infrastructure in communities across the state,” Cuomo said via a press release. “We've made ground-up community investments a central part of our approach to growing the economy, and it's been delivering results for all New Yorkers. Today we're continuing that progress through the Regional Economic Development Councils, and I look forward to seeing these investments build stronger communities across the State."

Lockport is the recipient of two different community development block grants — one for $180,000, which establishes 12 hospitality/service industry microenterprises, which are expected to create approximately 15 full-time jobs; and the other for $200,000 to assist in the establishment of a program targeting downtown, which will create approximately 22 full-time equivalent jobs.
