TOWN OF LOCKPORT — An Upper Mountain Road man was charged with impersonating a police officer on Black Friday.

Richard M. Maybach, 23, 5659 Upper Mountain Road, is said to have illegally parked in the Walmart parking lot, according to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, which says that Maybach parked his black vehicle, similar to an undercover police vehicle, with dark window tints, near the barricade on the north end of the parking lot, in the restricted area. T

Maybach told Walmart security personnel that he was with the Niagara County Sheriffs Office, and his car was an official car of the Niagara County Sheriffs Office. Maybach then entered Walmart with a female. After a few minutes they exited Walmart and a verbal altercation began between Maybach, the female and Walmart employees.

The report says that Maybach told the Walmart employees that he makes more money than them and that they are just "rent-a- cops." He also used a racial slur towards one of the security personnel.

When patrol arrived, they recognized Maybach on the security video, due to multiple encounters between him and NCSO.

Patrol caught up with Maybach Saturday night and charged him with criminal impersonation of a police officer. He is due in Town of Lockport Court on Thursday.
