ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
Garrett Sheehan, 21, 126 Levan Ave.; and Spencer Lupo, 20, 17 Bob-o-Link Lane each stand charged with second-degree criminal mischief — a class D felony — for damaging the memorial bench, as well as second-degree criminal mischief for a separate incident that occurred in the early morning hours of Aug. 9.
While police were still searching for suspects, the Lockport community rallied together to right the wrong of the damaged bench. With the old bench damaged beyond repair, a new bench, donated by Orleans Monument Company, was installed Oct. 7 at Children's Memorial Park at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and South Transit Street.
In addition to Orleans Monument donating the $2,100 bench, Lockport firefighters donated their time to dig the hole for the bench's concrete pad. And American Concrete donated the concrete pad itself.
