The Erie Canal Discovery Center, 24 Church St., will begin observing its winter schedule Jan. 1. The Discovery Center will be open Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., from January through April.
This interactive multi-media facility, which opened in 2005, is devoted to the history of the Erie Canal, particularly construction of the “Flight of Five” locks in Lockport. The Discovery Center is also home to the Raphael Beck mural “The Opening of the Erie Canal” and houses the Charles Rand Penney gallery.
The Discovery Center also includes the Lock, Stock and Barrel Gift Shop.
