The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Erie County, Orleans County, and Niagara County, including the Lockport area.

The thunderstorm is capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 miles per hour. And were located along a line extending from 7 miles west of Buffalo to Angola and moving Northeast at 45 MPH.

"Wind damage with these storms will occur well ahead of any lightning," the weather service states. " Do not wait for the sound of thunder before taking cover. Seek shelter immediately inside a sturdy structure and stay away from windows."

The severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 11:30 p.m.

High wind warnings of 25 to 35 MPH winds, with gusts up to 65 MPH, remains in effect until 4pm Thursday.

UPDATE (10:25pm):
Located along a line extending from 10 miles north of Middleport to Alden and moving East at 60 MPH.

"In addition to large hail and damaging wind, continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms," the weather service states. "Move indoors immediately!"
