TOWN OF LOCKPORT — A pair of Niagara Falls men were charged with having prison contraband in the Niagara County Jail on separate incidents Thursday.
According to the first arrest report, Bryant D. Searles Jr., 29, 1833 Cleveland Ave., Niagara Falls was found to have marijuana on him during his initial processing around 9:50 p.m. The report states that a corrections officer "discovered a plastic bag protruding from Searles' anus.:
Searles was ordered to extract the bag and place it on the ground, which he did. The bag, which contained a green leafy substance, was recovered by the corrections officer. Patrol sealed the plastic bag of suspected marijuana into a sealed evidence bag.
Searles was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and second-degree introducing prison contraband. He was transported to the Town of Lockport Court and arraigned on both charges. Bail was set at $500 and Searles was ordered to return to Town of Lockport Court on Thursday.
The sealed evidence bag was sent to the NCSO lab for further testing.
The second arrest report said that while corrections officers were conducting a cell search, they found two pieces of rolled up paper "containing a green leafy substance and two small pieces of folded up newspaper containing a white powder:" in the cell belonging to Zain Salleh, 24, 3520 Wildwood Dr., Niagara Falls.
The items were turned over to patrol in sealed evidence bags and Salleh was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and second-degree promoting prison contraband. He was transported to the Town of Lockport Court and arraigned on both charges. Bail was set at $500 and Salleh was ordered back to Town of Lockport Court on Thursday.
The sealed evidence bags were sent to the NCSO lab for further testing. Further charges may be pending depending on the lab results containing the white powder, the report said.
