Tyler Shotwell
Lockport Express goaltender Tyler Shotwell has been named as the defensive player of the week for the NA3EHL.

The 18-year-old was in goal for two of the Express' three wins in New England over the weekend, allowing just one goal over the two wins. Shotwell made 31 saves in a 3-0 win vs. the New England Stars, posting his first shutout of the season. He then made 30 saves in a 9-1 win vs. the Cape Cod Islanders.

The Lewiston native is tied for 2nd in the NA3EHL with seven wins and his 90.2% save percentage ranks tied for 6th.

Mike Heffernan of the New Hampshire Fighting Spirit was named the offensive player of the week.

Shotwell is the fourth member of the second-place Express to be awarded with the player-of-the-week honor this season. Fellow goaltender Giancarlo Muglia was named the North American Hockey League defensive player of the week Oct. 14, while Anthony Merante and Nick Siracuse were named co-offensive players of the week Sept. 30.

The Express next plays at 7:30 p.m. Friday — the team's first game at Cornerstone CFCU Arena — against the Roc City Royals.
