MIDDLEPORT — FMC Corp. released an updated statement concerning this morning's incident. It follows below in its entirety.
"The incident at the FMC Middleport Plant is over.  Our focus now is to monitor the situation and to begin a root-cause investigation to understand the cause of the earlier smoke.  We are committed to this process and will work diligently to understand what caused this issue.

All response teams have left. FMC is grateful for all departments that responded and to our team of employees.  We are grateful there were no injuries.  All non-essential employees and contractors have been sent home and are receiving updates from the company.

At this time, the team is focusing its efforts to determining the cause and prevention of future incidents.

FMC is committed to safe operations and regrets any concern this incident may have caused to our neighbors and employees and their families."
