In addition to shredding over five seconds off her personal best from last season in the 500, Artieri also placed first in the 200 Free as the Stingrays showed off in their home opener at Lockport High School this past Saturday.
Coach Tim Menges was once again excited by the performances of his new and returning swimmers.
"Many swimmers performed personal bests and others broke through tough barriers," he said.
In addition to Artieri, he noted that Isabel Treanor knocked 30 seconds off her 50 Free time, and Ava Conklin was able to qualify for States in the eight-and-under 50 Free.
Many newcomers once again made a splash for the Stingrays including: Jonathon Carmina, MacKenzie Gregoire, Lydia LaMont, Brendan Saia, Nicholas Saia, Luke St.Amour, and Chris Ulrich.
Some notable first place finishers include: Jenna Bull (50 & 200 Free), Madison Fragale (50 Breast), Liam Timkey (25 Back), Elizabeth Swartz (50 & 200 Free), Kenny Currie (50 Back), Mark Crocker (100 Free), Angelina Peruzzini (100 Free), James Sacco (200 Free), Luke Menges (50 Free), Ava Conklin (25 Free), and Laurel Creamer who sped to victories in both the 25 Butterfly and 25 Back.
The Stingrays are back in the water this Saturday as they travel to Canandaigua.
