TORONTO — The Buffalo Sabres managed a mere 10 shots against the Toronto Maple Leafs Tuesday night while being shut out for the fourth time already in this young season.

In fact, the Maple Leafs had more goals (3) than the Sabres had shots (2) in the closing period. Buffalo's record now stands at 2-8 with 72 games left to play. Hopefully for Sabres fans the team got a lot of bad hockey out of their system to start the season.

Despite being outshot 29-8 over the first two periods, Buffalo was still in it. Toronto didn't land their first goal until 19:10 of the second when Tyler Bozak got one past Sabres' netminder Michal Neuvirth. Phil Kessel and Morgan Rielly received assists on the goal.

In the third, Kessel scored at 4:18 with Mike Santorelli assisting. James van Riemsdyk put the Leafs up 3-0 exactly one minute later with Rielly and Bozak each adding to their point total on the goal. At 9:17, Jake Gardiner made it 4-0 Toronto with help from Daniel Winnik and Leo Komarov.

The Sabres come home to play Boston on Thursday at First Niagara Center.
