BUFFALO -- Matt Moulson notched a pair of goals and Tyler Ennis added three points as the Buffalo Sabres beat the Washington Capitals 6-1 at First Niagara Center.

Moulson started the scoring off 2:54 into the first period. The Sabres had been buzzing around Braden Holtby's net since the opening faceoff. Drew Stafford added a power play goal at 6:01, putting the Sabres up 2-0. Tyler Ennis put the Sabres up 3-0 at 18:38 of the first.

With less than half a minute to go in the first, a fight between Sabres' Chris Stewart and Washington's Dane Byers got the half-filled First Niagara Center on its feet. The pair each got five minute majors for the fight with Byers serving an additional 2 minutes for roughing.
The second period started much the same as the first, with a Matt Moulson goal 4 minutes into the period.

The second period started much the same as the first -- with a Matt Moulson goal. It came exactly 4 minutes in. Marcus Foligno put the Blue & Gold up 5-0 at 17:28, scoring on a power play.

Moulson nearly netted the hat trick 1:46 into the third. He was parked to the right of Caps' goaltender Philipp Grubauer, who replaced Holtby at the start of the period. With half a net to shoot at, he missed. Less than a minute later, at 2:39, Washington got on the board with a goal by Jason Chimera, making the score 5-1. That didn't stop the Sabres, who answered the "we want six" chants from the fans at 7:16, when center Sam Reinhart made it 6-1 Buffalo. Of course, that brought out "we want seven!"

They were lefting wanting -- and cheering.

The Sabres, now 3-2, have one more pre-season game, Friday against the Carolina Hurricanes at PNC Arena.
