NEWFANE — A 20-year-old East Avenue woman was charged with speeding and possession of marijuana following a traffic stop on Ridge Road Friday night.

Emily A. Howes, 6130 East Ave., was stopped for traveling 66 mph in a 45 mph zone. When patrol interveiwed the driver, Emily A. Howes, patrol could smell a strong odor of burnt marijuana, and could also see, in plain view, a green leafy substance on the floor of the vehicle, according to the arrest report.

Upon searching the vehicle Patrol found a multicolored glass pipe with burnt marijuana inside of it. At this time Howes was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. She was released upon an appearance ticket and is due in Town of Newfane Court on Oct. 21.
