NEWFANE — A woman visiting her grandfather on Condren Road told Niagara County Sheriff's deputies Monday that her grandfather's neighbor fired a gun in her direction.
The woman said she was in the backyard with her two dogs around 6 p.m. when the neighbor fired "a long gun in the direction of her and her dogs," according to an NCSO report.
The neighbor, meanwhile, said that the dogs were on his property, running toward him and his cats when he shot his rifle in the air to scare them away. The man said the woman was approximately 50 yards to the east of him and nowhere near the dogs.
The complainant said that the dogs were six feet away from her and on her property.
No charges to be filed but the Condren Road man was reminded of gun safety and the granddaughter was instructed to keep her animals on a leash.
