TOWN OF LOCKPORT — A Keck Road woman was charged with driving while intoxication after an injury accident at the intersection of South Transit and Tonawanda Creek roads Monday evening.
According to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, the accident occurred when a vehicle operated by Monica Hens, 49, 5633 Keck Road, struck another vehicle from behind at around 6 p.m.
Patrol could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from Hens' breath as she spoke and asked her to take a breath screening test. The report said she would not follow directions, pulling away from the breath screening device before she was told to do so all seven times the test was offered.
She was charged with driving while intoxicated, following too closely, and refusal to take a breath test and was turned over to the custody of the NCSO jail in lieu of $250 police bail. She is due in the Town of Lockport Court on Thursday.
