Eighty children tried out for last year's performance.

A group audition for kids grades K-12 will take place at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Kenan Center Taylor Theater in the meeting room. Some roles begin rehearsal immediately following a short break, as the performance date is a mere four days later.
Children do not need to have previous stage experience, but enthusiasm is a plus. Children must be available for all required rehearsals and two performances. The production is the culmination of a week-long residency in which the students work with MCT actors and directors to learn songs, dance steps and speaking roles. The final production is staged with costumes and sets provided by the touring company. The MCT visit is also a chance for serious acting students to win a recommendation to Missoula’s prestigious summer camp. The audition lasts approximately two hours.
There will be two performances — at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Oct. 18 — held at Lockport High School Visual and Performing Arts Center. All seats are $7. Children ages 2 and under are free.
Missoula Children’s Theatre is the nation’s largest touring children’s theatre and has been touring extensively for 30 years, from Montana to Japan. MCT’s mission is “the development of lifeskills in children through participation in the performing arts.”
