ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
The Niagara History Center's fall bus trip will be to North Tonawanda on Oct. 25.
The day’s adventure will begin at the Riviera Theatre and Performing Arts Center. Visitors will tour the Riviera and enjoy a mini organ concert on the “Mighty Wurlitzer” and a silent movie.
Lunch will be a buffet lunch at Pane’s Restaurant, renowned for its fine Italian fare.
Next stop is the Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum, another landmark that has put the city of North Tonawanda on the map for history lovers. The group will tour the restored Allan Herschell factory, now a museum, which features the legendary master’s vintage 1916 hand-carved wooden carrousel. Visitors will learn about Herschell’s remarkable talent and preservation of his work. Of course, patrons will have the opportunity to take a carrousel ride, too.
Then it’s all aboard for the Railroad Museum of the Niagara Frontier, housed in the Erie Railroad’s restored 1922 North Tonawanda freight depot. The Railroad Museum is home to a unique collection of artifacts and a monument to the era when WNY was North America’s railroad transportation hub.
Tickets for this all-day motorcoach tour are $65 for History Center members, $70 for non-members. History Center bus tours often sell out. Call 434-7433 to reserve a spot.
