ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
MIDDLEPORT — The New York State Canal Corporation found a golf cart in the Erie Canal Sunday, near the Peet Street Bridge, which had been closed for more than 25 years.
The golf cart was a gas powered white Yamaha with the number 56 on it. New York State Police are asking the public if they are aware of any missing or stolen golf carts to notify the state police at 434-5589.
The Niagara Orleans Golf Course is approximately a mile west along the canal. Several golf carts were reported stolen from Oak Run Golf Course in the Town of Lockport in May and early June, and others were stolen from the Niagara County Golf Course, also in the Town of Lockport, in early September. Each of those golf courses, however, are approximately 10 miles from the location of the found cart.
