The guard rail was taken out, as was a fire hydrant. 
WRIGHTS CORNERS — A yet-to-be-named driver was charged with DWI following an accident Saturday evening on Day Road just south of Wheeler Road.

According to eyewitness accounts, Wrights Corners volunteers arrived at the around 6:45 p.m. The driver of the car had gone over to the wrong side of the road, ripped through a guard rail, tore out a fire hydrant and slammed into a giant tree.

Upon arrivail of Wrights Corners Chief Handrich and second Assistant Chief Seefeldt, the driver was already out and walking around. He had obvious facial injuries but refused aid.

Niagara County Sheriff deputies ran field sobriety tests and the driver was charged with DWI.

UPDATE: Driver in DWI accident named.
