BATAVIA — The Lockport Express, Lockport's new Junior A hockey team, won its season opener Friday night, beating the Wilkes-Barre Miners by a score of 5-4.
The home game had to be played in Batavia's Falleti Ice Arena due to the Cornerstone Arena in downtown Lockport not being ready for use.
With the win, the Express are 1-0 on the season.
The same two teams face off tonight at 7 and Sunday at 1 p.m. Those games are both slated to be played in Batavia, as well.
