Olcott Fire Marine Rescue fished a man and a woman out of
the water. Then went back for their boat.
|
According to local photographer Joe Derda, who was able to capture some pictures of the rescue, a call for Olcott Fire Department came in for two people in the water at approximately 12:45 p.m. They were safely rescued from their capsized 16-foot sailboat at 1:30 p.m.
After attempts by Olcott Fire Marine Rescue to right the boat and bring it to shore, the rescue team brought the two — one man and one women — to a waiting ambulance at the marina. The pair were cold and wet but uninjured.
The U.S. Coast Guard followed up to bring the capsized boat in but abandoned the effort. Olcott Fire Marine Rescue was called out again as the capsized boat was drifting into harbor traffic.
