South Lockport volunteers transport a patient to Mercy Flight.
Two people were transferred by Mercy Flight and a third was taken by ambulance after an 11:15 a.m. accident at the intersection of Saunders Settlement Road and the William Gregory Lockport Bypass.

According to Niagara County Sheriff's deputies, a car was southbound on Route 93 when it approached Saunders Settlement Road and did not stop, striking an SUV that was eastbound on Route 31. The impact sent the SUV flying off the road into a deep ditch on the southeast side of the road and left a female in the vehicle lying in the ditch.

She was flown by Mercy Flight to ECMC as South Lockport volunteers, under the direction of Chief Tim Glaser and 1st Asst Chief Derek Caldwell, shut down all Route 31 at Route 93 to land two helicopters

The second victim was a child who was in the car and was bleeding from the head. He was flown to Womens and Childrens Hospital.

Wrights Corners volunteers responded to the scene and provided medical treatment to another victim of the accident who they transported to the hospital. Cambria volunteers also assisted in shutting down the road.

Harringtons had to flat bed both vehicles from the scene.

An SUV landed in the ditch. Police say it was struck by the car. Three went to the hospital from the crash — two by Mercy Flight.
