A funeral fund established to help cover costs for the family of David Metzger, who died Sunday, has raised over $6,000 in a day.
Metzger, 14, was found unconscious at a skate park in Tonawanda Sunday. He was rushed to DeGraff Memorial Hospital, but doctors were unable to revive him.
The fund, at http://www.gofundme.com/d6655c seeks to raise $7,500 to help cover funeral costs in order to ease the financial burden on the family, which is already burdened with his loss. As of this morning, it had raised $6,190. It runs through Friday.
The gofundme site states: "On 8-17-2014 we lost an amazing young man. He was loved by so many people, touched all of our lives and hearts and will be eternally missed. We are asking for everyone's help in this diffucult and unexpected time to raise money for the Metzger family in their time of need. We know that no amount of money will bring David back to us. We are hoping to eliminate any further burdon that this wonderful family has to endure during this most difficult time. Thank you for your support."
