WRIGHTS CORNERS — A resident of the 5600 block of Ridge Road reported that his car caught fire around 7 a.m. Monday, doing damage to both the vehicle and his home.
According to the report filed with the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, members of Wrights Corner's Fire Department were on location and had extinguishing the fire on the vehicle prior to patrol's arrival.
The homeowner told patrol that he noticed light coming from outside the front window. He stated that when he looked to see what it was, he observed flames coming from the inside of his vehicle and going out the sunroof. The vehicle was a complete loss and the siding on the residence did sustain heat damage. No other damage was observed or reported.
The complainant's wife inhaled smoke from the fire but signed off on treatment. The damage was estimated at around $7,000.
