MIDDLEPORT — A 28-year-old man was charged Thursday morning with criminal contempt following an altercation with a woman.
According to New York State Police, Lazaro A. Alfonso, had a verbal argument with the woman, left the residence then returned and forcibly entered, causing damage to a door. Further investigation revealed that there was a court order of protection against Alfonso in effect.
While interviewing Alfonso, he ran from the residence, according to police. State Troopers along with a Niagara County deputy began a pursuit and took him into custody after a short foot chase. He was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief, first-degree criminal contempt and resisting arrest.
Alfonso was arraigned in the Town of Lockport Court and remanded to the Niagara County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bail. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Royalton Court on Tuesday.
