ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
Two businesses located in the same Market Street building were burglarized early this morning.
Thieves broke the glass doors at Market Street Studios and Vanilla Grass, both at 247 Market St., around 1 a.m., stealing cash from the businesses' registers and fleeing, according to the Lockport Police Department.
"Patrol set up a perimeter and searched the building, but did not locate anyone inside," according to the report filed by LPD.
Approximately $300 was stolen from the Art & Soul Gift Shop inside Market Street Studios, however, no damage was done to any of the art — or to any of the art studios — in the burglary.
Building maintenance responded to the scene and secured the building and notified the business owners. The exterior doors were replaced this morning by Twin City Glass of North Tonawanda, and Market Street Studios said it is installing a security system to deter future break-ins.
LPD transferred the case to the detectives division.
