TOWN OF LOCKPORT — A 46-year-old Colonial Drive man was charged late Thursday night with possession of marijuana after a traffic stop on Old Beattie Road.
According to the report filed by the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, William N. Wittig, 6487 Colonial Dr., was traveling north on Old Beattie Road with an inoperable driver's side headlight. During the ensuing traffic stop, patrol "detected the strong and unmistakable scent of burnt and fresh marijuana coming from the passenger compartment of the vehicle."
Wittig told patrol the marijuana was in the center console and was issued an appearance ticket for Town of Lockport Court for Aug. 19 on the marijuana charge and headlight violation. The suspected marijuana was submitted to the NCSO lab for analysis.
